Re: JUST A TOY ? ( my first ride in town)
that is exactly what I been looking at ...the hope diamond..yep thats what they think..I was hoping to find some around here that needed work..figured if they were not working, I could get them really cheap. but they have not caught on down here yet so most the ones I've seen are new.

Same here. It appears that the ones for sale have about a few hundred miles and then got parked. Most are 2007 and 2008. As I said, I'm not paying $800 to $1000 for scooters I can buy new online for $700 to $800 delivered. Besides, my garage is full. One scooter, three motorcycles and two mopeds. No more room at the Inn.

Re: JUST A TOY ? ( my first ride in town)
well, someday maybe things will calm down...right now my one car garage has the VW and the one scooter...I have a small shed out back for the rest of the scooter fleet I might get later. who knows what might happen. if anything I should at least get one back up scooter.. just in case I get a breakdown
looks like me and you are the most active members on this deal. they are calling for snow again wednesday...this is the longest winter with the most snowing days I can remember...that dang groundhog sure is earning his keep.. but by next month I should be cruising to work on the scooter everyday..unless it looks like rain. so it will be warming up ...( at least thats the plan).

Re: JUST A TOY ? ( my first ride in town)
We finally got some more decent weather today. It was fifty degrees and we needed groceries so I fired up the moped and went into town. I forgot how long ago I put gas into the thing so I topped it off. Forty cents worth to the neck which was all of .13 gallon. I bought milk, punch, juice and a bottle of ketchup during the eight mile ride. The moped has all of 242 km. on it and is running stronger all the time.

I have to laugh at the .40 cents worth of gas..I bet that ticks off the gas station attendants yeah..I been waiting for this warmer weather...unfortunately it's got rain mixed in alot...but sooner or later it's gonna be scooter riding weather again...rained all day here today and got into the 60s....it's suppose to be in the 70s tomorrow I might take it out and drive it to work if it is not suppose to rain...it says it will start off at 53 in the morning and get into the 70s when I come home ...woo hooo. yeah I'll ride it in for sure...

Re: JUST A TOY ? ( my first ride in town)
I had to go into the trunk under the seat in the scooter today to get the registration. I thought, "what the heck, let's see if it starts?" You see, I haven't run it since November. I don't keep it on a trickle charger, put Stabil in the gas-nothing. It's been sitting all Winter in the garage with temps dropping down to five above and hasn't been touched once. So I turned on the key, saw the dash lights come up, pulled in the brake and hit the start button. It fired right up and ran at a nice steady idle. Not bad for a Cheap Chinese Scooter.

Re: JUST A TOY ? ( my first ride in town)
I took the moped into Town again for groceries. I really loaded it up this time. I actually had too much for the box and had to carry one bag on my wrist. Between the load and a headwind it was struggling up hills and I had to downshift. It was good to get out though. I was going to try and take out the scooter, but the shopping list was too extensive and I needed the moped's carrying capacity.

Re: JUST A TOY ? ( my first ride in town)
Don't complain about it being March. We don't see steady warm temperatures here until the end of May. Yesterday it got up to 65 degrees and dropped down to 25 last night. They say a high of 68 today, but it better hurry. It's only 60 now and the temperature peaks at 3 PM and starts to drop after that. I'd go for a ride now but really don't have any place to go.
